Dried Irish Seaweed Seasoning 30g

  • This is a very versatile seasoning. 'Umami' is the taste given to the deep flavour that literally makes our mouths water. Seaweed is a great source of this umami taste and can be used in food that is either savoury or sweet. It enhances the natural flavour or foods and can be used in just about anything.

    Ingredients: Irish Atlantic Wakame and Wrack.

  • Use: Sprinkle onto and/or into most sweet or savoury dishes to bring out the wonderful umami depth to your food. Can be added during or after cooking, or on raw food salads.

    Benefits: Seaweed is iodine rich. Iodine contributes to a healthy brain, nervous system, skin, thyroid, metabolism and is great for growing children. Seaweed helps with weight loss. Seaweed has 50 times the amount of iron as spinach and is 10 times higher in calcium than cow’s milk. Seaweed has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • The Laughing Oyster Seaweed is grown and harvested sustainably in the pristine waters of Bere Island, off the west coast of County Cork. It is then dried and smoked on the island. It is grown as part of an aquaculture co-operative.

    Gathering seaweed was always an honoured ancient Gaelic tradition and provided important nutritional supports to poor diets for rural coastal communities, especially in the famine times.
