Wholemeal Bread Mix 540g

  • Sea of Vitality Irish Wholemeal Breadmix makes a delicious, wholesome, nutritious brown bread packed with vitamins and minerals. It contains only natural ingredients and NO salt, sugar, additives or preservatives. Ground Kelp is added to the mix, which fortifies the bread with the natural goodness of seaweed and enhances the flavours of the other ingredients.

The natural glutamates of seaweed enrich and deepen the flavour of dishes. By adding seaweed to your recipes the glutamate arouses our ‘Umami’ receptors and excites our taste buds. Umami is known as the ‘fifth taste’, the other four being sweet, salty, sour and bitter.

Ingredients: Wholemeal Course Flour, Pinhead Oatmeal, Plain Flour, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Bread Soda, Cinnamon & Ground Kelp

This product is available in a case of 12 for the price of 10 which also offers a more efficient shipping rate in the long term.

  • Use: Incorporating seaweed into your diet through the bread that you eat is an easy way to boost the nutritional content of your diet without changing your eating habits. The mix takes about 4 minutes to prepare. Just add buttermilk, an egg and a drop of olive oil. The bread mix can be used to make loaves or rolls and other ingredients can be added to taste, for example, sun-dried tomatoes, olives or roast dillisk flakes.

Benefits: Seaweeds have super health benefits and are increasingly being recognised as powerhouses full of vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids necessary for healthy bodies, sharp minds and general wellbeing and nourishment.

The nutritional benefits of Kelp can be found in the ‘Benefits of Seaweed’ section of this site and the sites we have posted links to. Kelp is nature’s richest source of Iodine, which is essential for healthy thyroid function and is known to promote a feeling of fullness, so can help with weight management. Seaweed is very low in sodium and is an excellent substitute for salt to flavour foods.

  • Sea of Vitality is run by Tom and Ria Jones. Tom spent most of his career as a soldier based at the Curragh in Kildare and abroad on UN Peacekeeping duties. Ria worked in banking and did voluntary work with GOAL in Rwanda and Romania.

They moved to Dungarvan in 2007, and the opportunity to reconnect with nature inspired them to be more responsible and proactive about health and wellbeing. During the Waterford Festival of Food in 2012 they attended a Seaweed Workshop and learnt how to identify, harvest, prepare and cook with seaweed.

Armed with this new knowledge, they set up Sea of Vitality. Their goal is to make it easy to introduce seaweed into the daily diet. Their products help you to incorporate seaweed into ordinary recipes rather than having to use recipes only suitable for seaweed.

Their message to you is Saol fada agus breac-shláinte chugat. (Gaelic – Translation: “Long-life and fair health to you.”)
